Postojna Cave – the amazing underground world of wonders

“Postojnska jama”, also called the Postojna Cave, is one of the most breathtaking cave formations located in the picturesque village, in the heartland of Slovenia, just around 40 km away from the capital Ljubljana.

Postojna Cave consists of a series of caverns, halls and passages, 24 km long and two million years old, and it was hollowed out by the Pivka River. Visit to this magnificent subterranean tunnel presents a truly unique experience, mostly due to captivating underground caves shaped by tiny droplet throughout history, and a specific, diverse and fascinating fauna.

When you get close to the entrance of Postojna Cave, an underground train will take you to an unforgettable journey. Fist you enter the Great Mountain Cavern, from where an expert guide leads you on foot throughout a series of tunnels, halls, galleries and caverns. In the middle of the Cave, standing right next to the column rich with ornaments, is one of the symbols of this amazing place, the so-called “Brilliant”, which is a five-meter-tall white stalagmite.
